Branching out into the world of Sports Photography with the Oregon Ravens
Sometimes it's good to step outside our comfort zones! 2025 has been a year of doing just that for me. I stepped up and tried out for the Oregon Ravens, a professional Women's Tackle Football Team in Portland! It's been a ton of fun pushing myself and my limits on the field as well as off. When a knee/quad injury sidelined me, I decided to support the team by stepping out of another comfort zone - exploring sports photography! This has been an exciting challenge for me to tell the story of the field through my lens. I've discovered the excitement of the action through my viewfinders, also allowing me a unique perspective on real-time film study as I balance my roles as teammate (studying body positions and hand/foot work) with my role as a professional photographer to time my action shots correctly. It's been eye opening and I'm enjoying the photographic challenge while I'm doing the work in Physical Therapy to get back out onto the field and in to some other photographer's portfolio!
